It's So Hard To Be An Atenean.

It’s so hard to be an Atenean in a country with different culture and people. I wanted to be a woman for others , generous , kind and compassionate. But sometimes things don’t go the way I want them to be specially when my patience is tested.

I thought that being an Atenean is just giving coins to the beggars in the street, or donating things to less fortunate people. I’ve done them all. But they weren’t enough , I guess.

I never opened my mind to empathise what people are feeling. But I realised that’s it’s not about our religion or denomination. It’s about understanding and respect. “It’s not about the food we eat but the words that come out from our mouth.”

My alma Mater played a great role in molding me to who I am today. So even if I’m far away from home, I will still try to remember in heart how good our God is.

My fellow Ateneans, We are one in spirit wherever we are. I hope that we will bloom where we are planted and be passionate to our field of mission. We are God’s missionaries! We are the living witnesses! We will love to do good not because St. Ignatius told us to do so but because we want to do good!

I pray that God will protect us wherever we are in the other face of the world. It’s dangerous out there. People are mean. There will be a lot of challenges or trials but God is faithful not to let us astray.

May we never forget who we are. May we always bear in mind to men and women for others and listen to the voice within despite the chaotic and noisy world we are in. #oneBigFight #blueBlooded #atenean
